On the morning of August 12th, Wei Wang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Business School, Laijun Zhao, Dean of the School, and Kai Zhu, Secretary of the Office of the School, arrived at Xi’an Jiaotong University to visit Professor Yingluo Wang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Director of the Faculty Committee of the Business School at USST, and Director of the Academic Committee of the School. Academician Wang was consulted on the recommendations for future development of the School.
Wei Wang and Laijun Zhao introduced to Academician Wang the recent developments of the college in turn, covering topics of discipline development, discipline evaluation, developing new doctoral programs, internationalization, professional degree development strategy, EDP development, faculty development, and main challenges faced in the development of the School.
After listening carefully to the work reports of Dean Zhao and Secretary Wang, Academician Wang first fully acknowledged the achievements the School had attained in the past year, and expressed high hopes for the School’s future. Meanwhile, he provided guidance on some key issues related to the development strategy of the School. Academician Wang pointed out that our School should now focus on the needs arising from Shanghai's economic and social development, prioritizing several disciplines and research directions by means of greater resource allocation and talent training in order to make breakthroughs in those disciplines. At the same time, he stressed that the School should combine artificial intelligence, big data analysis application and management to create a new model of artificial intelligence management and big data application management. Academician Wang also proposed to apply the findings of management research to better the development of our motherland, and provide policy suggestions for the country through think tank, and hoped that the Business School of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology can effectively integrate the construction of their own think tank with that of the School of Management at Xi’an Jiaotong University. Finally, Academician Wang hoped that the Business School can keep up their great efforts building on its current achievements, continue to innovate, and interact with the School of Management at Xi’an Jiaotong University to realize rapid development of the Business School at USST in the future. Dr. Xuanli Lyu, deputy director of the Party Office of the School of Management at Xi'an Jiaotong University, accompanied them during the visit. At the end of the visit, Academician Wang gladly took a group photo with everyone.
Academician Yingluo Wang is an expert on management science and engineering, and an educator. He has worked hard as a pioneer in his field, kept exploring new frontiers, and set the precedent for China's management science research and practice by being the first to integrate the three fields of management engineering, systems engineering and industrial engineering together to form a school of system management with Chinese characteristics. He has made pioneering contributions to the cause of management science, made significant contributions to the cultivation of management talents in China. He has contributed greatly to the country's economic and social development and the construction of management disciplines in the past 40 years since the reform and opening up.
