The Department of Finance invited professor Jac Birt, Business School of University of Western Australia, to give lectures

On the morning of October 25, 2019, Professor Jac Birt of the University of Western Australia Business School was invited to the School of Management of The University of Shanghai for Science and Technology to launch the lecture entitled ICT Skills: Are we meeting the Needs of the Accounting Profession? The lecture theme is: ‘Are we meeting the needs of the accounting profession?’ Professor Jac Birt is currently the head of Department of Accounting and Finance at the Business School of University of Western Australia and chairman of the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand.

The development of information and communication technology has posed new challenges to college education. In the lecture, Professor Jac Birt first elaborated on the current demand for accounting and audit professionals based on her educational experience and research in the professional field, such as digital technology skills and behavioural skills. Furthermore, she explained the content and the importance of Data Analytics, also recommended some data analysis software. In the end, Professor Jac Birt introduced the current situation and future development trend of Information and education in Australian companies and universities.
