President Ding and his delegation attended a seminar for young teachers of the business school

On the afternoon of December 18th, 2020, President Ding Xiaodong, Vice President Wu Zhong and the leaders of relevant functional departments were invited to attend a seminar for young teachers of the business school. The seminar was attended by members of the Party committees and governments of the business school, leaders of the discipline of systems science, leaders of the discipline of Management Science and Engineering, and other 20 young teachers of the two disciplines.

At the seminar, Professor Gao Yan and Professor Ma Liang reported on the progress of assessment in their respective disciplines. At the same time, the two professors introduced to the young teachers at present the history and current situation of the development of the subject, expressed the expectations that the young teachers should become the backbone of the discipline and be courage to shoulder the burden of the development of discipline in the future.   

During the interactive section, young faculty members of the college spoke enthusiastically. They were very grateful to the university and the college for their training, witness the improvement of the teaching and research environment provided by the university and college for the development of young teachers and the upgrading of various incentive policies. At the same time, the young teachers also expressed their own bottlenecks and confusion during development, the school leaders, functional departments and colleges concerned have carried out detailed answers.

President Ding delivered an important speech: first, under the profound changes unseen in a century”, the school had more opportunities for development, the strategic cooperation between schools and enterprises reached a new peak, inter-disciplines of medicine and engineering had a great development. The development of schools also provides a good environment and opportunity for teachers’ personal development. Young teachers should make clear plans for their own development and overcome difficulties in their personal career. Second, the Campus of USST are all located in the urban area, which is not only the advantage of the geographical location of our school, but also the disadvantage of the limited development space of our school. The problem of land and building surface has become the bottleneck of the development of our school. Young teachers should clearly understand the predicament of the development of the school and be prepared to struggle hard. Third, in the face of development difficulties, the school seeks to make breakthroughs through the development of disciplines, focusing on strengthening the dominant disciplines, and further highlight the characteristics of USST. The system science discipline should always adhere to its own engineering background, not only pay attention to the combination of system and management, science, but also pay attention to the Great Cross and integration with other disciplines. Fourth, the business school should strive to build an international business school, create an all-foreign language working environment, carry out all-foreign language teaching, further attract international talents, and build an International Education Demonstration Zone. Fifth, Young Teachers in business school should give full play to their disciplinary background advantages and strive for better results in the national project application, especially in the National Social Science Fund project application.
