Multiple teams of the Business School made great achievement in the final of the 17th “Challenge Cup”, the extracurricular academic and technological works competition of university students in Shanghai

Recently, the 17th “Challenge Cup”,the final of the extracurricular academic and technological works competition of Shanghai university students was held in Lingang campus of Shanghai University of Electric Power. After the school selection, the USST has sent 14 works to the competition. After fierce competition within two-days, each team of the Business School exploited their advantages, carefully set up exhibitions, made full preparation, and finally won one first prize, one second prize and one third prize.

Under the guidance of Yanxu, Jili, the “dream chasing” team composed of Liuting, Wang Ziyue, Wan Tianhao, Zhang Yuxiao, Gao Lin, He Yun won the first prize.

Their research project with rural consumption as the research topic was taken as the “Challenge Cup” cultivation project of the school in the final. The project carried out research under the background of poverty alleviation and expanding domestic demand. They proved their scientific research ability by overcoming all kinds of difficulties encountered in the process of research. They hope their research results as well as academic methodologies would bring new ideas for social development.

Under the guidance of Liu Weiwei, Zhang Chennan’s teamwork, the project of “precise governance: investigation and optimization of prevention and control of community public health emergencies”, won the second prize on May 10th.

In the prevention of Covid-19, the community has played a leading role and become a key link of the control of public health emergencies. Under this background, it is necessary to summarize the experience and shortage of the management of community public health emergencies in our country. The team led by Zhang Chennan focuced on two problems, i.e., “what are the inaccurate measures for community emergency prevention and control?” and “how to construct an accurate and optimized scheme for community emergency prevention and control?”. The two problems have opened a wonderful and difficult journey of exploration. Up to now, the project results have been reported by 3 news media and adopted by 9 management units, gaining ubiquitous compliments from local residents. Due to persistence in fighting and winning the battle against the epidemic, this teamwork stood out in the competition and won the second prize of Shanghai.

The student team, Thinker Union’s work “research on the influencing factors of residents’ participation in consumptive poverty alleviation” won the third prize.

With the successful completion of the task of poverty alleviation and the entry into a new stage of building a moderately prosperous society, however, the problem of relative poverty still exists and it is necessary to solidly promote the effective connection between poverty alleviation and rural revitalization. Under this background, the team tried to, from the perspective of consumers, manipulate actual impact factors obtained from grounded theories as well as surveys to construct empirical models to explore influencing factors of residents’ participation in consumptive poverty alleviation, and to provide practical suggestions on how to maximize the willingness and behavior of residents’ consumptive poverty alleviation.

The series of “Challenge Cup” competition is known as the “Olympic” gala of scientific and technological innovation of contemporary university students, and it is an effective way for colleges and universities to transform scientific and technological achievements into real productivity. It is expected that more and more students join in it and draw colorful blueprint with innovative thinking.
