Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the National Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences (NOPSS) announced the lists of approval projects in 2021. 14 projects of our faculty and postdoc were approved, a 75% increase year-on-year, and the total amount of direct funding was 5.876 million (RMB), a 174% increase year-over-year. The number of projects and funding were the highest in the history of Business School.
As for NSFC, 9 faculty members were approved to be founded, including 1 outstanding youth foundation, 3 general programs, and 8 youth foundations; moreover, 3 postdocs were approved to be founded by youth foundations. The total amount of direct funding was 5.476 million (RMB) and the school achieved a breakthrough in outstanding youth foundations. In NOPSS, a faculty member and a postdoc were approved to be founded and both of them are general programs with a total direct funding of RMB 400,000. In the past three years, the number of national foundations has increased from 7 projects to 14 projects, and the total direct funding has increased from 1.65 million (RMB) to 5.876 million (RMB), which is a promising growth trend.

The national-level scientific research projects could measure the construction level of disciplines, the innovation strength of science and technology, and the organization ability of scientific research, and it has a strong traction on developing scientific research, constructing disciplines, and improving scientific research level. Over the years, our school has attached great importance to the ecological construction of disciplines, played the leading role of two traditional advantaged disciplines of management science and engineering and system science, constantly innovated the organization and management of the application of national projects, and strived to stimulate the enthusiasm of scientific researchers, especially the young faculty to engage in the cultivation of national scientific research projects. In 2021, according to the unified deployment requirements of the party committee and administration and the supported of relevant departments of the university, our school further increased the efforts of scientific research reform and the construction of scientific research talents, especially increased the funding for national projects, and strengthened the overall planning and organizing managements of project application. Through holding mobilization meetings and experience exchange meetings, the school has carefully organized the activities such as how to select good topics, make good design arguments, and standardize the filling out of application materials. The applications were constantly polished through “face to face, one-on-one” guidance of experts’, checks, revisions, and refinements.

The achievements are the result of the joint efforts of all faculties, especially the diligent and unremitting efforts of the teaching and research staff. It will greatly enhance the enthusiasm of our research staff to apply for various research projects, form a stronger academic atmosphere, promote the prosperous development of our research and disciplines, produce more excellent research results, and further serve the development of the country.
The application works for national foundations in 2021 has come to an end, and such works for the next year will start soon. So the school hopes that all the researchers will create another success and contribute their strength to the national scientific research.
