On the morning of January 27, our teachers Dr. Dong Jieshuang and Dr. Li Wenxiang on behalf of Business School in the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST), went to Zhejiang University Urban-Rural Planning & Design Institute (ZUP) for an exchange meeting to discuss the cooperation between the university and enterprises in industry-university-research, and to strengthen the training of our graduate students and undergraduate students in transportation engineering. Mrs. Li Huaxiao (President of ZUP), Mr. Xu Jianwei (Vice President of ZUP and Chair of Innovation and Information Technology Research Branch), Mr. Yang Fei (Assistant to the President of ZUP), Mr. Liu Fengjun and Mr. He Yihao (Chair and Vice Chair of Transportation and Municipal Planning Branch respectively), and Mrs. Zhang Yunqian (Director of Carbon Neutral Research and Innovation Center), and other main leaders and representatives participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, President Li Huaxiao firstly expressed a warm welcome to our school for the visit and briefly introduced the participants of both sides. Then, President Xu Jianwei detailly introduced the function and positioning of the Innovation and Information Technology Research Branch, which mainly includes cultivating and incubating projects, docking with university discipline resources, conducting cutting-edge exploratory research, and serving the platform construction of the ZUP.
Then, Dr. Li Wenxiang also briefly introduced the basic information of Business School and Department of Transportation System Engineering in USST and highlighted the main research directions of our faculty representatives, including frontier research on low-carbon transportation planning and development strategy, smart city and big data analysis, urban emergency management, planning of urban and regional industrial economic development, intelligent networked transportation system control and optimization. On this basis, a preliminary cooperation framework was proposed, including cooperation methods, cooperation plans, expected results, etc. At the same time, Dr. Dong Jieshang also put forward a clear demand for industry-university-research cooperation in the context of the "University-Industry Cooperation and Collaborative Education Program of the Ministry of Education".
Finally, the two sides discussed and exchanged ideas on scientific research cooperation, talent cultivation, and the construction of practical teaching bases, etc. Both sides expressed their strong willingness and demand for cooperation, which laid a good foundation for the establishment of the "USST–ZUP Joint Innovation Research Center" in the future.
