On the afternoon of May 14, a delegation from the Junior High School Affiliated to University of Shanghai for Science & Technology visited USSTBS to carry out labor education and science popularization practice activities. The goal of the visit was to thoroughly implement Chinese President Xi Jinping's directive that scientific and technological innovation and science popularization are two wings for achieving innovative development, and science popularization should be given equal importance as technological innovation. and to inspire students' interest in learning and enhance their spirit of scientific innovation as well as practical ability. Gao Yongting, vice president of the Junior High School Affiliated to USST, Gong Mingyang, teacher of the Moral Education Department, Zhou Chenchu, class teacher, and nearly 50 excellent junior high school student representatives participated in the activity. The event was presided over by Wang Jiawen, director of the labor education and science popularization practice base of the USSTBS.

Firstly, Wang Jiawen gave a detailed introduction of the labor education and science popularization practice base to the teachers and students, showcasing multiple platforms of the base such as resilience optimization and management system of the road traffic system. He also led the students to experience the emergency management virtual simulation platforms, including the 3D LED large-screen engine room firefighting training and the multi-user online evacuation experimental platform.

Next, Wang Jiawen led the students to the transportation system engineering base to carry out labor education and science popularization practices in intelligent transportation, autonomous driving, and traffic safety. Gao Yongting pointed out that this labor education and science popularization practice activity enhanced the students' innovative literacy in intelligent emergency management and intelligent transportation, playing a good role in cultivating the innovation spirit and practical ability of the junior high school students. After the activity, both parties further discussed potential cooperation plans for student training.

In December 2023, the Business School was approved the first batch of the Shanghai Yangpu District Labor Education Practice Bases for Primary and Secondary (Vocational Schools). The base focuses on the two sections of intelligent emergency management and intelligent transportation, conducting practicality, theory, and prospective labor education and science popularization practices. Since its approval, the base has conducted high-quality labor education activities for more than 300 youths from 13 primary and secondary schools, enhancing their practical and exploratory abilities in emergency management and transportation engineering, effectively practicing the spirit of educating all students.
