The final of the International Trade Competition (International Trade Simulation Track) of the 2024 China University Business Elite Challenge (CUBEC) was successfully held on May 23-27 at Ningbo International Conference & Exhibition Center. After fierce competition, the teams from USST achieved remarkable results, winning one grand prize, three first prizes, and one second prize. USST was honored with the Best University Organization Award, while Tang Qiao, Yang Le and other faculty members won the Excellent Tutor Award.

The CUBEC International Trade Competition is organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Commercial SUB-Council (CCPITCSC), the China Chamber of International Commerce Commercial Chamber of Commerce, the Commerce Economy Association of China, the China Convention/Exhibition/Event Society, and it is hosted by CCPITCSC.

Since its establishment in 2011, the CUBEC International Trade Competition has been held for 14 consecutive years. Now, it has become an interdisciplinary, practice-oriented platform for innovation, university-enterprise cooperation, and international exchanges in the field of international trade education in China. Since 2021, the competition has been listed in the national discipline competition ranking list issued by the China Association of Higher Education, which makes it the only international trade professional event in the list. It is also a Class A discipline competition recognized by USST.

The final was a simulation of the 2024 China Transnational Procurement Simulation Fair. Each team represented an enterprise (simulated exporter). The competition includes four parts: a business plan for the international trade exhibition, exhibition poster designs and product display, new product launch, and trade negotiation.

In this competition, many colleges and universities across the country actively participated in the event. A total of 385 teams from 180 colleges/universities in 26 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across the country participated in the event. This included 345 undergraduate teams, 7 vocational college student teams, 6 international student teams, 12 postgraduate teams, and 15 foreign language teams, involving 3,300 participants and tutors. The rate of the Grand Prize winner is only 3%.

This year, the products selected by USST’s teams included hot-selling smart home devices, artificial intelligence AR glasses, digitally manufactured 3D printed products (casual shoes), and sports products such as soft hockey sticks. These items attracted strong interest from both participants and the simulated buyers/purchasing merchandisers.

With the support of instructors and the joint efforts of the participating students, the team of our Business School showed a high level of professionalism in international trade, English communication skills, business etiquette and teamwork spirit in the competition.

From last December to the final Competition, USSTBS teams took advantage of their spare time to prepare for the competition, continuously enhancing their professional expertise in international trade, fostering an excellent team spirit, and developing an international mindset. Their commitment fulfilled the objective of promoting learning through competition and put into practice the spirit of AACSB international accreditation.
